I’ve noticed over past months here in 2026 that these classic cases are getting harder to find. They were all made in the Chenming factory for companies that included Antec SOHO, Chieftec Dragon, and Thermaltake Xaser as steel ATX server cases.
These iconic towers were once everywhere, but more enthusiasts are now seeking them for retro gaming PCs and modern sleeper builds. Their heavy steel construction, removable drive cages, excellent modding potential, and unmistakable early-2000s styling make them far more desirable today than most people ever expected.
Many of these cases shared Chenming-built chassis designs and were sold under different brands, colors, and configurations. Regardless of the badge, they represent an unforgettable period in PC-building history. This was when cases were built like tanks and modifying your own computer was becoming part of the hobby.
I spotted this one on facebook Marketplace located an hour from me. I made the trek on a Sunday morning. Overall this Chenming / Chieftec case is in very good condition considering it's over 20 yrs old. The seller left case by their garage and asked me to leave cash in their mailbox. After bringing it to my workshop, I noticed the fan bracket mounts for all of the Chenming cast plastic four 80mm fans were missing (ugh). You really want these unless you plan to do the extensive modding in utilizing larger cooling fans. I did some research and found only one individual had created 3d printable version online. They're a different design than factory, but worked perfectly. I've linked them below.

I've installed Thermalright TL-88 case fans. These are great fans for your Sleeper PC and Retyro Gaming PC builds. They offer good airflow with low Db's. Their fan specs are 2200RPM±10%, Noise ≤24dBA Connector: 4pin pwm, wind pressure: 2.7mm H2O,Air Flow: 34CFM (MAX).
If you find a clean example of one of these cases locally, especially with its original side panels, drive cages, doors, and plastic trim intact, don’t wait too long. Collectors and sleeper-PC builders are actively searching for them, and surviving examples will only become scarcer.
