Clean the surface with a Laquer thinner, sand with 200 grit sandpaper and apply a "self etching" primer before painting. If you don't use this type of adhesion promoter, your paint will peel off! You can buy "self etching " at any Autoparts Store that carries an extensive line of Autobody supplies. Is it alright to leave my Modder's mesh exposed as is? Yes, but you will need to periodically apply a silicone lubricant to keep the surface from oxidizing. When to apply depends on the type of climate you live in. Check the surface every 30 days for any sign of oxidizing. You can also prevent oxidation by spraying the surface with Laquer Clearcoat, but only after cleaning surface with laquer thinner.
